Learning Log, Sep 2024

🚀 Shipping

My team at work released variable reordering and bulk actions for variables! It’s been so heartening to note how welcome this change was for Webflow users. I’m especially proud of the engineers for being game to implement some tricky but necessary keyboard navigation patterns.

🧶 Crafting

I made a PJ top in a pink cotton with abstract, colorful quilty shapes printed on it. This photo shows the back of my head so that you can see a matching pink scrunchie holding my ponytail.
  • 🪡 Finished sewing up a matchy-matchy PJ set
  • 🪡 Started my foray into clothes you wear outside the house with a Eucalypt Tank. I’m between size ranges and chose to sew the Curve version which meant learning how to sew DARTS! I want to take some photos and write a blog post about the process, but the tank top is very comfy, fits well, and I’m very proud of it.
  • 🧦 I went on a knitting rescue mission and saved my second sock! Long story short, I tried to undo a mistake in the heel flap, bad things happened, and my knitting was no longer on my needles. I was using size 0 needles, which meant getting the little loops back on was impossible—they kept pulling out. What I ended up doing was threading the needles through the SECOND row down, then pulling out the first row. That way I could reknit just a few botched rows instead of starting all over…
  • 🖍️ I drew two spreads in my Talens Art Creation sketchbook (here’s a strawberry one). I keep waffling on how much I want to share from my sketchbooks on the internet. On the one hand, it’s nice to have a creative outlet just for yourself. On the other hand, I enjoy sharing openly with my communities. I honestly may just keep most of this to an Art Friends Discord I’m active in.

When compiling this list, I was surprised to note I hadn’t highlighted anything in the Reader app for the back half of September. Things have been really busy leading up to Webflow Conf!
